Friday, 7/15, Travel from Las Vegas, NV to Los Angeles, CA

We had a goal of leaving Las Vegas by 8:30AM.  Made it out of the parking lot
just after 9:00.  (We're usually within a half-hour of our goal, so this was on-
time by our standards.)  It's a four hour drive to LA.  Lots of cactus plants
along the sides of the road.  Target was to get to LA around lunch time so we
could hit [yet] another pizza joint - one that we've been to in the past.  We
will be staying with cousins Chavee and Vic thru Tuesday morning.

At Hesperia, CA, we took a pit stop, and then Chavee called to find out where we
were up to.  She told us to take a better route than the GPS was giving, so we
did that.  It didn't change the GPS's ETA, but I think it took us away from
potential traffic tie-ups.  We really didn't have any traffic, but cousin
Elianna said her trip home from work was way longer than normal, probably from
the impending CARMAGGEDON.  Luckily, we didn't have any impacts from it.

We got to Pico Blvd at 1:00PM, and went to Nagila Pizza.  So far, the best pizza
around.  Then made it to Chavee (just a few blocks away) at 2:00PM.  Chavee
prepared a very cute "itinerary" of the Deluxe Package from the "Malon Mellon"
(in Hebrew, Malon is hotel, and Mellon and Malon are spelled the same way, so a
cute play on words).  It gave all the schedules for all the various activities
around the house (pool, laundry, tea room, Sabbath times, Wi-Fi access, etc.)

After unpacking and assigning the rooms, the kids got changed and went swimming.
The Mellons have a load of pool toys, so that's a novelty from all the hotel
pools we've been to.  We also had a "load" (many loads) of laundry from the past
week that we can get a head start on before Shabbos.

I believe cousin Michele (Chavee's sister) will be joining us tonight for
dinner.  Chavee also called Shira Berman (my brother Alan's sister-in-law) to
invite her, but she already had plans, but she said she would stop by for
dessert.

Hey Bob L, ANOTHER RI license plate in Los Angeles
Time for me to do some ironing, so this will be it for today.  Looking forward
to a relaxing Shabbos with the family.
