Friday, 7/8, Travel from Cheyenne, WY to Denver, CO

It's about a 1.5 hour drive to Denver.  We're actually staying in the Glendale
suburb of Denver.  We packed up and headed out of Cheyenne at around 10:30AM.
Didn't take long to hit the CO border.  Cheyenne is all the way down on the
southern WY border.  MUCH easier drive than yesterday from SD to WY.  Just set
it on cruise control for the speed limit (mostly 75mph until the Denver
outskirts).  Was a little traffic-y when driving thru the streets after getting
off the highway.

Nice view of snow capped peaks of the Rockies as we approached Denver
Denver skyline
The kosher grocery/take-out store (East Side Kosher Deli) is only open until
2:00PM on Fridays, so we wanted to give us enough time to get there and early
enough that they wouldn't have run out of what we would be getting.  We got
there a little after noon, and found it to be a really nice place.  It's a big
grocery with deli counter, fresh meats, dairy products, bakery products, and a
restaurant.  So we loaded up with stuff for Friday night and Saturday meals.
Karen was now much relieved knowing we had all that in order.

At the hotel, we met a Hasidic man with his wife and "driver" who were from
Brooklyn.  He was also heading towards Los Angeles.  He inquired to see how many
"adult" men we had to see if we could scrape together the required quorum of 10
so we could conduct our own services in the hotel.  The local synagogues are
around 1 - 1.5 miles away.  It does not look like we will have services here.
Karen saw one other "tribe member", but he said he was planning on going to the
synagogue (East Denver Orthodox Synagogue) tonight and tomorrow.  I think we
will just go tomorrow.  Probably a 25-30 minute walk.

Next, we wanted to go for pizza at Pete's Pizza, but found out (via a phone call
ahead of time) that they are not open on Fridays!!  Bummer.  So we went to The
Bagel Store and got some bagels and pastries, picked up some groceries at a
supermarket and went back to the hotel to eat lunch.

The pool here is undergoing some renovations, but there is another hotel down
the road from the same parent company that can be used.  So I took the kids
there while Karen was busy doing laundry here.  (The washers/dryers are actually
free for guests!!!)  So we're all getting ready to usher in the Sabbath and
hopefully have a much needed relaxing night and day tomorrow.
